Job Specification

As one of the largest Learning Providers operating throughout South and West Wales, continuing success means my client is looking to expand its team of NVQ Assessors. Their most recent Estyn inspection in November 2009 resulted in being awarded Grade 1 for How well do learners achieve. They are a recognised Investor in People Gold company and accredited for ISO 9001:2008. They have recently been accredited at Level 3 for the Green Dragon Environmental Standard. This full-time position involves regular planned visits to learners in their workplace, providing the training, assessment and support required in achieving agreed learning objectives. Typically these objectives will be NVQs (Awards, Certificates, Diplomas) at either level 2 or 3, associated Essential Skills Wales qualifications and identified Technical Certificates. To be successful you must have relevant food sector experience. The “A award” is preferred, although full training will be given to enable achievement of these relevant professional qualifications and to maintain Continuing Professional Development. You must be a car owner able to visit learners in their place of work across the South and West Wales area. You will require excellent time management, administrative and organisational skills, as well as possessing an ability to communicate at a range of levels. As well as a competitive salary benefits include performance related bonus, reimbursement at agreed mileage rates, full use of a laptop and mobile phone for work related purposes. Technically Competent and Qualified NVQ Assessor with a Food Manufacturing Industry background required. A peripatetic role operating throughout South Wales with travel costs paid at 40p per mile. ** MUST HAVE A FOOD BACKGROUND ** Skills Assessor Reports to:Learning Programmes Delivery Manager General Duties: 1. To contribute to the overall efficiency of the Company. 2. To organise and plan own work ensuring that all learners allocated are monitored/assessed on a minimum of a period basis. To car share where practically possible. 3. To implement in full all the Companies detailed policies and procedures. 4. To operate according to the Work Based Learning Programme Specification and ISO9001:2008 procedures. 5. To liaise with Host Employers on a regular basis. (as it no longer exists) 6. To continually market and recruit at all times. 7. To deliver Frameworks to National Standards as per awarding body criteria. 8. To work to deadlines and meet specific set targets Specific Objectives 1. To be familiar with and implement all relevant guidance within the Work Based Learning Programme Specification. 2. To assess, review and forward plan for all allocated learners at least once a period. 3. To ensure that learners knowledge of Equality of Opportunity, Diversity, Sustainability and the Welsh Culture and Language is regularly documented. 4. To address identified Basic Skills needs with learners. 5. To ensure that the NVQ delivered is the appropriate NVQ for the learner and industry. 6. To deliver Key Skills and Essential Skills Wales as appropriate, as a minimum, at the specified level detailed in the relevant Framework. To deliver at a higher level if appropriate to the Learner. 7. To deliver, or arrange the delivery of, all appropriate Framework components. 8. To complete all documentation accurately and legibly minimising re-work ensuring that all changes are documented and communicated to Learning Programmes Delivery Manager. 9. To maintain daily up to date electronic calendars. 10. To complete monthly return forms and forward to Learning Achievement and Audit Manager for analysis no later than the last Friday of each period. 11. To operate workload in the most cost effective way. 12. Implement company Health & Safety Policy and code of practices in full. 13. To liaise and up-date the Employer on a monthly basis and provide accurate and timely information deemed necessary. 14. On each visit to an Employer check for any potential recruit onto Work Based Learning programmes and take immediate appropriate action i.e. report potential to the Marketing and Recruitment Officer . 15. All documentation requiring amendments shall be submitted no later than 15 days of receipt. 16. To participate fully in a planned programme of Business Meetings with the Learning Programmes Delivery Manager. # 17. To participate fully in a planned programme of Sector meetings. Skills Assessor To attend all meetings notified and attend all training courses deemed necessary. Individual Performance will be assessed against duties, targets, completion of documents and specific objectives detailed in this Job Description. To attend the head office a minimum of once per week to submit all paperwork and discuss Company business profiles. Skills Assessors are reminded that they must attend the office immediately upon return to work from any period of sickness to complete an Absence Form and partake in a Return to Work interview. Person Specification

You must be a car owner able to visit learners in their place of work across the South and West Wales area. An experienced and technically qualified Assessor with a food manufacturing background.
